Membership

The Recusant Cricket Club is forever seeking new members. There is no hard and fast criteria. If the name of the club appeals to you, you are probably member material.

Catholicism and cricket are only two of the club’s interests, we welcome articles on all topics, we ask only that it be in keeping with the club ethos.

We pride ourselves on informed, entertaining esoterica.

In the warmer months, it is hoped that the club will also have enough members to field an eleven or twenty-two for the occasional match.

Please direct enquieries to recusantcc@yahoo.co.uk .

You guys need a members list, so we can see an admire them. I suppose Aussies are out of the question.

  2. Capt. Says:

On the contrary, Aussies are welcome, as long as you aren’t heretical or republican.

Do you guys explain cricket somewhere on your blog?
    I do not understand it.

  5. John Kearney Says:

I am sorry, I grew up in Scotland where cricket is not the hot gossip item in the vast majority of households. I did raise 6 English boys though, and two of them take cricket very seriously indeed. I did not want them to have an identity crisis so I encouraged this. I am very good though at making a “wee cup of tea” and hanging up the jackets and coats. Will this help me in my membership bid?

  6. Apiarius Says:

Well I think this is a fantastic idea. There are so many possible points of convergence between religion well done and cricket well played that I don’t know where to start. But I will be back.

I’d be very keen to join, like Private Frazer I have my roots on the Isle of Barra, one of the very few Recusant islands in Scotland which held out against the reformation and remains firmly Catholic even today.

Also, like Private Frazer, I am a Scotsman who could be quite useful in a game of village Cricket as seen in the classic Dad’s Army cricket match episode “The Test”.

    Kind Regards
    Private Frazer
